Sunday 18th December,
from 16:00 till 19:00,
Bellamystraat 21, Oud West, Amsterdam.
For the residency Adriaan has been selected by a selection committee composed by Jelle Bouwhuis (curator Stedelijk Bureau Amsterdam), Ann Demeester (Director de Apple), Fons Welters (Director Fons Welters Gallery)

"The towers I draw appear infinitely tall. The appearance is inspired by the story of the tower of Babel in the book of Genesis. I combine male and female features in my tower designs. The male aspects are illustrated in the phallic shape of the towers and the aggressive drawing technique. Female qualities are visible in my use of pastel colors and the delicate appearance of the towers and their decoration. Irrationality is emphasised in my tower designs by using unnecessary decoration and bright colors that are inspired by indigenous South African flowers".

Thami Mnyele Foundation promotes the exchange of art and culture between Africa and the Netherlands.
