We are proud to announce that Hasan & Husain Essop and Zanele Muholi, former artists in residence at the Thami Mnyele Foundation, have been nominated for the prestigious Rencontres d’Arles Discovery Award, and their work selected to be shown as part of the Rencontres d’Arles photography exhibition, which runs from 2 July – 23 September 2012.

The Discovery Award goes to a photographer or an artist making use of photography whose work has recently been discovered or deserves to be. Every year a panel of directors and teachers from major photography schools is chosen to nominate candidates for the award. Each candidate is given a solo exhibition in the Parc des Ateliers and the winner is chosen at a public vote by photography professionals during the professional week.

Hasan & Husain and Zanele Muholi are presented by John Fleetwood.
