Ina van Zyl (South Africa) has been selected for the Jordaan van Heek prize. The prize consists out of a solo exhibition at The Institut Neerlandais in Paris, a sum of 5.500 Euro and a catalogue. The exhibition 'Schilderen tot op de huid' is to be seen in Paris from February first until March 18, 2007. "Her work reveals a taste for controversial issues and a fascination for detail. Technically, her style is characterised by the application of a thick layer of paint that leaves visible brushstrokes, dense colour, the use of framing and enlargement, and the – sometimes crude – realism of the subject. This pictorial, transgressive use of paint gives her work strong appeal." Ina van Zyl has been a guest at the Thami Mnyele Residence program.
