2007-01-25 | Ina van Zyl wins the Jordaan van Heek prize 2007

Ina van Zyl Ina van Zyl (South Africa) has been selected for the Jordaan van Heek prize. The prize consists out of a solo exhibition at The Institut Neerlandais in Paris, a sum of 5.500 Euro and a catalogue. The exhibition 'Schilderen tot op de huid' is to be seen in Paris from February first until March 18, 2007. "Her work reveals a taste for controversial issues and a fascination for detail. Technically, her style is characterised by the application of a thick layer of paint that leaves visible brushstrokes, dense colour, the use of framing and enlargement, and the – sometimes crude – realism of the subject. This pictorial, transgressive use of paint gives her work strong appeal." Ina van Zyl has been a guest at the Thami Mnyele Residence program. More info about her work you find at www.inavanzyl.com and at www.institutneerlandais.com
