2020-02-10 | Samson Kambalu - new exhibition History Without A Past

Samson Kambalu - new exhibition History Without A Past Thami Mnyele Foundation alumnus Samson Kambalu is presenting a new exhibition History Without A Past together with Vincent Meessen at Mu. ZEE. This exhibition is shown at Mu. ZEE until 17th May 2020.

May 1968 is usually associated with uprisings and student riots in Paris. Protests are breaking out worldwide, screaming that things have to change. A "revolution" is needed and one of the most striking sounds comes from the situationists. This international avant-garde movement was strongly opposed to the prevailing consumer society. The approach of this group and its resonance with contemporary society inspire Vincent Meessen and Samson Kambalu to bring their work together in History without a Past. The seed for this exhibition is - unknowingly - planted at the Venice Biennale in 2015, where both artists were present with work inspired by the international avant-garde movement.
