Lakin Ogunbanwo wins Thami Mnyele Foundation Award With great pleasure, the Nigerian photographer Lakin Ogunbanwo is the first artist to be awarded the special 30-year anniversary Thami Mnyele Foundation Award 2020, in collaboration with 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair’s new residency programme.
The chairperson of Thami Mnyele Foundation Amsterdam,Pauline Burmann, presented the award at the 1-54 Art Fair Press Conference on 20th February to Ashleigh from the “What If the World” gallery South Africa, who represents the awarded aritst Lakin Ogunbanwo from Nigeria.
Lakin Ogunbanwo will be the residency in 2021 for three months in Amsterdam.
Also this is the first time the 1.54 art fair collaborates with residency organisation.
