The Thami Mnyele Foundation fellow Jelili Atiku who was invited with Afrovibes for our 30 years celebrations, is not able to travel because of covid 19. However, his performance based film, Ẹlà bá»Ìrù, will be premiere at Afrovibes Festival in the Netherlands.
The film references the present circumstance in the world - the COVID 19 pandemic, which has exerted a heavy toll worldwide. As an artist that uses his body as medium in performance; it becomes indispensable to go through rigorous immune health care. The film is therefore a personal journey of myself in the process of using the Yoruba indigenous methods/rituals of building body immune system against the pandemic disease. The schedules of the screenings are:
i. October 1, 2020 at Compagnietheater, Amsterdam from 19h15.
ii. October 4, 2020 at Kunsthal, Rotterdam from 12h15 – 16h45.
iii. October 8,9 & 10, 2020 at Stadsschouwburg, Utrecht from 17h00 – 22h00.
iv. October 10, 2020 online: De Balie at 21H30 local time (GMT+2).
