We are very happy to share that our fellows CUPP collective will soon release a publication which was being developed during their residency at Thami Mnyele Foundation in Spring 2023. The publication documents their material research around ecological and local materials and practice which spanned from the Netherlands to Suriname in the year 2022.
The artists started their research in March 2022 and worked and lived at Thami Mnyele Foundation studio in the Netherlands. In November 2022, they traveled to Suriname to continue the research process, engaging craft masters from various material disciplines. Using this newfound knowledge, Asli Hatipoglu, Basse Stittgen, Annemarie Danie , and Maegan Peneux crafted paper samples.
As an end result, Razia Barsatie and Marjet Zwaans have compiled all the information, meetings and research into a publication.
The publication was printed by Peter Verweij at Rijksakademie printlab, bookbinder Thekla Ahrens.
This program is supported by Stichting Stokroos, Stichting Niemeijer Fonds, and Thami Mnyele Foundation.
