We are happy to share that our fellow Sue Williamson will participate in a group exhibition Home and the World at Museum Van Loon Amsterdam, curated by a guest curator and art historian Thomas J Berghuis, set within the historical context of Museum Van Loon.
Fourteen artists from around the world explore the intricate connections between colonialism and nationalism. The concept of the 'nation-state' evolved in Europe and spread globally throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. This concept often resulted in borders that did not accurately reflect existing ways of coexistence: the nation-state is not the only form of societal organization, and alternative ways for humanity to feel at home in the world exist. In Home and the World, participating artists present these alternatives. Additionally, the World School is introduced at Museum Van Loon: a public program aimed at global dialogue on alternatives for our societies.
The exhibition is open form 5 April to 7 July.
