Congratulations to our fellow Bernard Akoi-Jackson, as well as other artists, who were selected and will participate in Recontres de Bamako 2024 / African biennial of Photography in Bamako, Mali!
Nadine Hounkpatin (Benin), who contributed to Thami Mnyele Foundation 30 anniversary publication, was invited to join curatorial team, together with Manthia Diawara (Mali), Soufiane Er-Rahoui (Maroc), Oyindamola (Fakeye) Faithfull (Nigeria), and Patrick Mudekereza (RDC).
Created in 1994, Recontres de Bamako, African Photography Biennial, is the first and main international event dedicated to African photography and video on the continent. Over its 30 years of existence and 14 editions it has become an unmissable event in the global contemporary art circuit.
A platform for discovery, exchange and visibility, the Biennale is a major and essential place for the revelation of African photographers and those from the diaspora, a time for exchange and sharing with the Malian public and professionals from around the world.
From Malick Sidibé to Seydou Keita, from Samuel Fosso to the new generations, Bamako is the city of all photographers, a place where their dreams come to life for those who have had the chance to come and participate.
You will be able to see the exhibition from November 16 2024 until January 16 2025.
