We are very happy to share that our fellow Nicholas Hlobo is participating in a group exhibition Unravel: The Power and Politics of Textiles in Art, at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
First shown in Barbican, London, Unravel - The Power and Politics of Textiles in Art is organized by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Barbican, London. Curated by Amanda Pinatih (Stedelijk) and Lotte Johnson and Well Fray-Smith (Barbican).
Contemporary artists explore the transformative and subversive potential of textiles through stitching, weaving, braiding, and knotting. They communicate multi-layered stories about lived experience, addressing gender, colonialism, the movement and displacement of people, ancient forms of knowledge, and more.
You can see the exhibition from 14 September 2024 to 5 January 2025.
