La mort au Travail (2022) - a work of our fellow Guy Woueté which he created during his residency in Thami Mnyele Foundation, was acquired by Flemish Community Collection and are entrusted to various art museums in Flanders.
Artist Guy Woueté created La mort au Travail (2022) during a residency in Amsterdam, in the middle of the lockdown. He saw COVID-19 not as a simple evil, but as a powerful energy that expresses itself through the body. Woueté writes: “It remained invisible, but decimated us rapidly and mercilessly, as if taking revenge for our actions on earth.”
Guy Woueté (1980), living in Antwerp, works with various media: drawings, sculptures, installations, video, photography, performance and publications. In his work he investigates the influence of Western powers on Africa. His work moves between social criticism and activism, and explores various forms of protest.
